Are you noticing that consumers are having difficulty locating your business online?

Do you know that 86 percent of consumers use Google Maps to locate a business?

As Google persists in occupying local searches, your website’s online listing must be optimized for the search engine to make it easier for existing and future consumers to locate you and book your services.

Find out why your business isn’t showing up in Google Maps or search results and what you can do to restore it.

Table of Contents

  • 1. Your “Google My Business” Account Verification is Pending
  • 2. Your Website is Missing SEO Optimization
  • 3. Your Business Lack Online Citations
  • 4. Your Keyword Market is Fiercely Cut-throat
  • 5. You Lack an Excellent DA
  • 6. Google Has Taken Down Your Business Account

1. Your “Google My Business” Account Verification is Pending

To rank and appear in search results, you must first create a Google My Business account. Verifying your company is the first step in increasing your chances of appearing on Google Maps.

Google Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools, is another free program you should learn about. It’s where you may act as your own “webmaster,” checking the indexing progress of your pages and optimizing your website for search.

In a nutshell, the Search Console is a dashboard that can show you what people are searching for to discover you and how Google is scanning your pages to help you improve your optimization.

2. Your Website is Missing SEO Optimization

Your website might also influence your business’s searchability on Google Maps and Search. The information you publish on your website will inform Google about who you are, what services you offer, and assist you in establishing a presence in your region. You might be limiting your chances of a ranking if your website isn’t Google-friendly.

Many elements go into search engine optimization, but the poor design of your website for search is to load slowly.

Verify if Google Search Console has indexed and added your website. Use Google’s URL Inspection Tool to have your page re-crawled if you’ve made any recent modifications to your site.

Ensure your website has all of the essential elements, such as an informative homepage, and set up a regular schedule for updating and managing your information.

Running a free report with GTMetrix is a simple method to see some of your website’s issues. It will show you how long it takes for your pages to load and why it takes so long. Alternatively, put your URL through Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool to see what it has to say.

3. Your Business Lack Online Citations

Use the proper category and description on your GMB account to help Google discover, define, and rank your company for relevant search queries.

You should also look at Yelp, Facebook, Apple Maps, Yahoo, Bing, and other listings in addition to Google Maps.

You should also double-check your company’s citations, which should contain your company’s name, address, website, and phone number on any local directories, applications, and listings.

These citations will benefit you in the long run by establishing credibility across various platforms and demonstrating to people and search engines that you are relevant all over the internet.

4. Your Keyword Market is Fiercely Cut-throat

Millions of individuals worldwide use search engines to explore the internet and discover specific information among the billions of web pages available.

Make sure you’re targeting a keyword market with fewer competitors so you can catch your customer’s attention.

In search engines, it’s easier to rank for useless keywords. It cannot be easy to rank for profitable and important keywords.

The challenge is twofold: first, selecting the most profitable keyword for your business, and second, having the expertise to get you to the Page 1 position.

To work this out, we recommend using Google’s free Keyword Planner. This keyword research tool allows you to determine the popularity of specific search phrases and the amount of competition that you will encounter if you use them.

5. You Lack an Excellent DA

Your domain authority (DA) is measured on a scale of one to one hundred. That’s true, and your website will be rated. Use it to discover how relevant your company is in the search results for your industry.

A thriving business needs to be aware of and increase its backlink profile. It is, without a doubt, a Google ranking component.

You may use tools like Ahrefs or SEMRush to check who is connecting to you online.

Web sites with backlinks to your website: Quality organic backlinks are a significant element for search engines. It’s what search engines want to see.

Google offers your page more credibility and searches rating if it has numerous websites referring back to it.

Backlinks will come easy if you create helpful, insightful content, but understanding where to shine is half the battle. Improve your Google search results by leveraging current relationships and cultivating new ones online.

6. Google Has Taken Down Your Business Account

Google may remove websites from its index and search results temporarily or permanently if there is a violation of Google’s guidelines.

  • Fill your business name field with keywords. In this part, don’t include any services, hours of operation, or location information.
  • If your clients can’t come to you, provide them a business address, such as a P.O. Box or a virtual office.
  • Check multiple entries for the same business.
  • Make use of a URL forwarding service. Your website domain, not a landing page, should be listed as the URL.

If you’ve checked the list above and still can’t get your listing up and running, be sure to look through these instructions or contact Google directly.
